Asking Good Questions at Easter

During the Easter season, the online ministry Explore God sees five times more web traffic on questions about Jesus! If people all over the world are searching the internet for answers to their questions about Jesus, God, and Christianity, what difference do you think it would make if they actually had a Christian friend they could safely discuss questions with?

I think it would make all the difference in the world! A friend who has been on the staff of a Christian ministry for years recently said, “I truly believe that in a post-Christian culture with so much negativity towards believers, the gospel will primarily advance at the speed of friendship.” I agree.

So, what are some good ways to help friends we know on their spiritual journeys in authentic dialogue, especially at Easter?

In this 3-minute video, Sean McDowell shares several excellent ideas and questions to get the ball rolling—and then we simply listen.

What Are the Best Questions? He says, “If we’re willing to listen, willing to ask good questions, it’s amazing how many people turn back and say ‘What do you believe?’ ‘Why do you believe that?’ ‘What are your experiences?’” Watch how Sean does it—and then try it yourself. As Easter approaches, pray for opportunities to ask people you meet questions like these, then listen and learn:

  1. How do you celebrate Easter?
  2. What does Easter mean to you?
  3. What do you believe about the resurrection of Jesus?
  4. How did you come to that conclusion?
  5. What would it take for you to believe in the resurrection of Jesus?

To strengthen your own beliefs about the facts of the resurrection, watch this 3-minute video of Lee Strobel on the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus.
