Initiator Support
What support is available to those who want to start a Q Place?
Q Place has a growing number of resources, events, and people to equip and support you. When you register in our resource section or go to our Q Place store, you will receive access to resources and information that will help you as an Initiator. Here are some of our key supportive resources:
- Our introductory book How to Start a Q Place guides you through the process of launching and sustaining a Q Place. You can purchase it at our online store.
- Turbo Groups can boost your pace in starting a Q Place as you join with 6 to 10 others who would like to start groups and walk through the process together. You may have a Q Place Equipping Center in your area that is launching Turbo Groups. But if not, we strongly encourage you to find others who would be interested in starting a Q Place and form a Turbo Group that would meet for six weeks. You can go through How to Start a Q Place together, discussing the questions at the end of each chapter and trying out the principles that you encounter in the book each week. The regular weekly support, prayer, and learning that occurs in this group will be foundational to your ability to start a Q Place.
- Mastering the Arts of Spiritual Conversation: Q Place is in the process of developing a new curriculum covering a variety of topics that can strengthen your ability to be a Q Place Initiator when you are meeting with your triad of initiators or in a larger group. We have found that these topics are not so much skills as they are a way of life—more art than science. The Mastering the Arts series, which go into greater depth on effective spiritual conversation practices, can be purchased and downloaded from the Q Place Store (available in mid-2012). The Arts of Spiritual Conversation will include the following Arts:
- Noticing
- Listening
- Praying
- Asking Good Questions
- Welcoming
- Loving
- Facilitating
- Serving Together
- Sharing
4. Equip meetings are held monthly at Q Place Equipping Centers across the country. If there is an Equipping Center in your area, you can come to Equip meetings to receive support and encouragement and to continue growing in the art of being an Initiator.
5. The Initiator Toolbox can be accessed in the Resource section of this website by officially registering as an Initiator. (Potential Initiators are welcome, too!) The Toolbox contains a variety of additional useful resources including:
